Giovanni Anania

On July 15th 2015 our friend and colleague professor Giovanni Anania suddenly passed away. Giovanni Anania was Full Professor at the University of Calabria (Italy), President of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAEE) and one of the founders of the Associazione Italiana di Economia Agraria e Applicata (AIEAA)

His scientific commitment was directly inspired to the scientific, political and cultural heritage of Manlio Rossi-Doria since he earned a post-graduate diploma from the Portici Center. He was then one of the most active promoters and one of the founders of the Associazione per studi e ricerche Manlio Rossi-Doria. He was member of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research from the beginning of our activities.

To honor Giovanni Anania, the AIEAA, the Rossi-Doria Centre and the University of Calabria, have organized:

Giovanni Anania Scholarship
The scholarship shall be awarded to a student enrolled in the first or second year of an Italian doctoral program (the 2016 edition is for students enrolled in the 30th and 31st doctoral cycles) with a research project in one of the following fields: international trade, negotiations and agreements on market liberalization, sectoral and trade policies in the agri-food sector.

Giovanni Anania Summer School for PhD candidates and young researchers, a constant focus in Giovanni’s mentoring action.
The Giovanni Anania Summer School is a new advanced programme for applied economists in the field of policy formulation and evaluation. It integrates theoretical lectures on specific topics with up-to-date empirical sessions and case studies.
