Abstract.<\/strong> The study of Global Value Chains (GVCs) is one of the best way to fully understand the modern organisation of production processes and international trade. The increasing importance of GVCs has also significant implications at the national and regional levels. Understanding the factors that shape the patterns of GVCs, and the interplay of their occurrence at macro, meso and micro levels, are key topics for researchers, policy makers and firms alike. Notwithstanding that Italy clearly emerges as one of the main hubs in the EU manufacturing industries, the debate about the actual degree of involvement of Italy within the GVCs is still scant, especially at the firm level. Moreover, a number of issues concerning GVCs position, participation, and governance as well as competiveness and specialization are still unexplored.
\nTo this end, the Centro Rossi-Doria and the Department of Economics organize the Workshop on Italy in GVCs: Country, Regions and Firm-Level Analyses to be held at Roma Tre University, in Rome on the 28th of April 2016. The aim of this one-day Workshop is to bring together researchers working on GVC topics to present and discuss their ongoing research. The focus of the Workshop is on the discussion of the overall aspects of GVCs that involve Italy, its regions and its firms.<\/p>\n
